I am an Indian to the core. On a daily basis I get exploited, harassed and insulted for being disabled female, living alone after my both parents died.
My identity in India is only lame, लंगड़ी ( Hindi word for lame), కుంటి ( Telugu word for lame) and 1500+ Indian language words that call me lame. That is my name, Indians call to call me with.. My name given by my parents is Lavanya Malladi. I am unmarried because here perfect Indian men charge extra gifts to marry disabled females. I have no money to give them extra gifts AKA dowry wink wink.
I am into UI/UX designing, Visual Arts, used to Play Veena, one south Indian musical instrument not anymore, Writer, Front-end Web Developer & discontinued my graduation in Journalism.
The constant exploitation and harassment made me opt to isolate myself from Indians around me. And for that also they harass me. Nothing can make Indians happy except their never ending all talk no walk preachings irrespective of their religious belief.
I have to pursue nearly half a dozen exploitations and harassment cases. The police refused to take action because the preparators know MP, ACP or whatever bodes well to avoid taking up my justified cases to bring perpetrators to justice.
Lawyers in India are leeches with no morals nor take up any disabled person case if it is not profitable. Everyone including lawyers exploit disabled.
Only curse I have in this lifetime is being part of such leeching & exploiting culture. I am a solution seeker. So I decided I must develop an exclusive platform for disabled. It is Work In Progress.
Difficult Social Conditions
I have no one to contribute a cent for my project. All talk, no walk. Fake morals everywhere in India. Corporations make crores and as per norms they have to follow under The Companies Act, 2013 provides for CSR under section 135(3) do some namesake projects in the name of social responsibility that are useful for themselves to have good photo ops and their political partners.
I am planning to write English learning content, make some designs, sell merch etc., online, and raise funds for the platform I want and developing for the disabled.
One contractor looted all my money, over the top harassed how I look ugly and telling everyone how my mother when she was alive gave him money to look after me as I have no one.
He claims he is a friend of Mr. Avinash Reddy MP of Kadapa and told me that the MP and other bureaucrats promised to save him from whatever he does. Had he not ruined me this badly I would have launched my exclusive platform one year back. I have no tools to verify the veracity of this contractor's claims. I write about all the exploitations and harassment I have and having in my platform once it is launched.
I plan to fight for justice in all 6 exploitation and harassment cases through my platform I am developing for disabled in India.
If I can fight through my platform I am developing for disabled, approximately 3% of the Indian current population, that is 3% of approximately 1.5 Billion, which is 1.16 times the whole Canadian population can fight back.
If we take the relatives of disabled of India into account it would be nearly a population equal to 10 times of the Canadian population, in one or other way are impacted by disability related social, economical and lack of justice problems.
Why does anyone on earth need to be discriminated based on their race, disability, gender, region, religion, sexual orientation, age or financial criteria etc.? That is completely against civility and human rights.
In India, the rich, corporates, religious entities and politicians establish NGOs to promote themselves. Disabled are one of their investment instruments for their photo ops. Everywhere there is too much talk, self promotion and exploitation including so called disabled organisation’s leaders who love to be second fiddles to phantom democracy created dynasty politicians to promote themselves.
India needs activism from disabled for the disabled. Nothing About Us Without Us must become the mantra for improving conditions of disabled in India. A positive change bodes well at least for the next generation disabled.
I work from my home office. I am constantly harassed for doing that also?
People who are optimistic can only hope there will be a slow but solid change in attitude of Indians on how they treat disabled.
Disabled are going to be in every generation. So the most pressing question is, with an exploding population what future disabled have in India? What future generation disabled are going to experience?
My decision to develop this website and a platform for differently abled people in the coming months is right. I am hoping good hearted people support me to make not much but a small change in the current situation we disabled in India are in need of.
